## Description

From the Manufacturer NetDisk with NDAS Technology is the only external Hard Disk Drive (HDD) that can be connected directly to either your computer or your Local Area Network (LAN) using an Ethernet cable OR directly to your computer using a USB cable! Now you can easily share additional storage with everyone on your network. NetDisk utilizes XIMETA's own NDAS Technology, making it easy to add instant, high-speed storage to your PC while giving you the option to share. Designed with ease of use and expandabilty in mind, this external storage solution combines high performance, reliability, security, and versatility.Product FeaturesQuick and Easy to install Instant, High-speed storage Versatile - features Ethernet and USB 2.0 & 1.1 interface connections, allowing it to freely switch roles as a network and local storage device. With its multi-interface, NetDisk provides the best network storage solution. Scalable - speed does not change even if you add additional NetDisks; no bottleneck effect (the degradation of response time as the number of devices connected to the LAN increases) Sharing - NetDisk is automatically available to all users connected through a Local Area Network (LAN) Asynchronous mirroring for data protection (software included) - Mirroring is a function that continuously creates and saves a copy of data in real time onto a second NetDisk whenever data is written to the first NetDisk. Expandable - the number of NetDisks that can be added to the LAN is virtually unlimited. Aggregation - allows two NetDisk units to be recognized as one large drive. Hot-swappable - connect and disconnect without powering off your computer. Pre-formatted - no need to format or partition the drive; simply plug it in. Fast - 7200 RPM for high-speed performance and smooth data transfers. Simple and Convenient - no servers, cumbersome management software, or IP configuration necessary. Economical - provides a cost-effective network storage solution. Portable and Compact - Great for workgroup collaboration - share, transport, and edit files from a central network location

Review: Totally useless - What their description doesn't tell you is that their software for Mac runs on the PowerPC architecture. The last time Apple released an OS that supports PowerPC was in 2009. So unless you've got a computer hanging around with 10-year-old software, this won't work for you. The website that they send you to for the latest drivers no longer exists. And to think I had to spend $14 to send this back.
Review: Works well - I needed a quick network attached NAS box or simply USB disk. The SW is an added bonus when expanding and performing my own DR. I will use the NAS quite nicely. So I use it now for disk based storage / backup, and in the future perform BUs over the network to a different physical location and let the NAS do the heavy-lifting with networking, IDs, LUNs and such. Good Bye.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ NetDisk is just what I needed for fast, easy backups
*by R***N on October 3, 2004*

I was tired of burning CDs to backup my family's digital photos and videos and finally found NetDisk. What used to be a very manual and risky procedure (since I would only burn CDs every couple of months) is now fully automated and much less risky. Thanks to NetDisk and Super Flexible File Synchronizer, a very robust backup utility <[...] my backups occur automatically every night over my wireless LAN. It used to work Ok over 802.11b but I recently upgraded to 802.11g (in fact, Netgear's 108Mbps Super G) and it works even better. I just got a second NetDisk and started using Mirroring to ensure a full backup of our files. My wife is now able to access all files from the NetDisk on her wireless computer at any time with the simplicity of treating the NetDisk as just another disk drive on her machine. Although every now and then my wife's 802.11b connection may make the NetDisk connection a little flaky, all in all this is an exceptionally fast, easy, and safe solution for backing up our family's digital photos and videos.
