When I saw it described as heavy duty I thought I was getting the heavy posts and shelves I have bought at home centers before. These are the light version with 1/2 inch posts versus the 1 inch I have on my other shelves. I took a photo of the posts holding a heavy version next to it.Second issue I have which is my own fault. The shelves are basically sturdy wire trays. I thought I had them upside down as all my heavy duty shelving have shelves you could slide a box or storage bin on and off of. You can't with these. For those of you storing kids toys this may be a real plus as anything that might roll will hit the edge of a tray/shelf and stop. If you enlarge the product photo on Amazon where the couple are cooking you'll see the books above the microwave are inside the edge. For me this a negative.I want my bins etc to slide on and off without lifting them up.As to the 400 pound rating I personally wouldn't try these with more than 25 pounds a shelf.I will use these in a closet where I can put clothes on them which was not my original intent but one lives and learns.Company needs to modify their listing and describe them accurately as light weight.They should also put the post dimensions of 1/2 inch as it will spare other buyers my mistake.Lastly they need to include some safety hardware to keep these shelves from being pulled over by a child. Once I saw what I had to do, I actually assembled it in a different order than shown and it went together pretty easily. It helps if you have someone else working with you. The extra hands helped a lot. Once together, the wire shelving is very sturdy and will support a good amount of weight. I have it in my laundry room and it is now filled with extra canned goods and other non-perishable grocery items. Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase.
