The magnet is so slim it fits inside my phone case. The holder has some kind of sticky gel on the bottom that keeps it from falling off the dashboard. My old holder used to pop off all the time because the suction wasn't strong enough. This was a welcome change! It would rotate around the magnet and eventually pop off. I tried repositioning, redistributing weight and magnet. In the end, it just wasn't strong enough. At one point, the phone fell off while I was driving and could have been damaged by my feet. Considering there weren't really instructions with the packaging, I can't say if I followed to the letter, but I have had car mounts before and this one didn't do it's job. Also, the suction cup came off quite a few times when it was empty. My previous mount had no problem staying in one place.I am giving this two stars because I'm am giving the benefit of the doubt that this could actually work with a smaller, lighter phone.
