It won't absorb into epoxy. If you filled holes with wood dust and glue, it might absorb. **Q: Is one coat really sufficient? Or do you need more for durability? We are putting down red and white solid oak.** A: For my furniture projects, one coat is okay, but it comes out looking a little dry and matte. 24 hours after putting on the first coat, I sand my furniture lightly with a green or red 3M scotchbrite pad attached to my random orbital sander and apply another coat. The result is a much more even, smooth, more satin finish. It honestly depends on the wood, but it certainly makes a difference with plain sawn red oak plywood, which has deep porous grain. I didn't notice a difference with quarter sawn oak, which has less deep and porous grain. Bottom line is, if you're not satisfied with the finish, then put on another coat after giving it a very light sand and it should come out better. **Q: Can the oil plus 2c "A" be used without the accelerator "B"?** A: The original Monocoat oil that I used 8 years ago did not have an accelerator... It worked just fine. But that question is a question I would think you should ask of the manufacturer. **Q: durability over time? does occasional dog drool produce grey spots? i read that is the case with rubio on another forum, any other opinion?** A: We used it on walls, and our little dog very rarely manages to drool there. Frustrating packaging. I ordered this 1.3L size twice within 2 weeks (big project and needed extra) and the first shipment arrived with the B component / accelerator in 3 separate 100 ml plastic bottles with a screw on cap. This is a MAJOR improvement over the squatty 300 ml can that it used to come in that was always impossible to get 100% usage out of and would leave way too much oxygen in the container once it became halfway used and beyond. I was thrilled to have the screw top bottles in smaller sizes arrive...only to be disappointed again with receiving the most recent shipment (2 weeks after the one described above) that is back to the blasted 300 ml can. I always transfer the A component into a stop loss bag completely before actually using it as I have learned that leaving it in the can and opening / closing it for any length of time over using results in the top layer of the product skimming over / chunking up and becoming unusable and wasted. This is unacceptable for a product that's so expensive and a little goes a long way. Thankfully stop loss bags work perfectly for the part A component. The B component is too viscous for that and I would please please please recommend to Rubio to change your packaging to reflect what I've outlined above.
