A CR2450 3 volt lithium ion battery. It depends on the model and year that you own. They only had a few options but I do know that the CR2032 only fits in the newer (last 3 to 4 years) model of BMW’s. Also,do keep in mind that the batteries on those remotes are generally a non-serviceable item. When the fob is plugged into the car it is supposed to be charging the battery while you are driving. That being said, if you keep going through batteries you may want to have it checked out by the bmw service center to see if something has failed to function properly. Good Luck!!
