Review: Simple and very well made - I can honestly say that these WHITIN shoes have been the best pair of shoes I have owned in years. Always wanted to try barefoot shoes and Notice the price point on these. Purchased them and have no regrets. The sole is comfortable, the rubber grips extremely well even after months of heavy wear and tear (hiking, camping, working out at the gym, riding a bicycle with bolts that stick out to grip, running). I plan to get a new pair of WHITIN shoes in a few months, will try their other styles out too, but this style is a total winner. Highly recommended.
Review: 3 Years. One Pair. $37 Well Spent! - I normally don't leave reviews, but these shoes have earned one. I bought these in February 2024 for around $37'ish at the time. As I write this, they're finally retired, with honors, I might add (a family lineup, Taps, the whole thing, and a short prayer was said before they were carefully placed into an old shoe box and given the highest spot in the closet), after nearly three years of almost daily use. I purposely waited until they were completely done before writing this review because I always appreciate seeing long-term reviews with photos showing what a product actually looks like after years of real use. At roughly $37, these ended up costing me about a dollar a month. Before buying these, I'd owned several other barefoot shoes that cost three to four times as much, and NONE of them lasted nearly as long. I'd say a few only made it a few months, and a couple more about a year before they needed to be replaced. Most of them tore the tops off the sole, some the sole fell apart, others were just garbage. But not these Whitins! These weren't my "wear them once or twice a week" shoes. They were my primary shoes for nearly three years. They went with me through countless airports, rental car lots, and car dealerships. They spent long days walking across oil stained concrete in service departments, oily shop floors, parking lots, and sidewalks. They were with me while coaching and riding BMX, maintaining the track, walking on dirt, asphalt, concrete, sometimes glue, and wood, working in the grass and mud, and handling race days where I was on my feet from morning until night. They also survived several music festivals where I spent upwards of 18 hours on my feet each day. They were my everyday shoes for errands, travel, work, and home. If I left the house, these were on my feet. If I did leave the house without these shoes on, it's because I was literally barefoot. As for maintenance... I think I washed them in a hotel sink once with a bar of cheap soap and some shampoo. Other than that, Mother Nature handled the rest. Walking in the rain every now and then seemed to clean them up well enough. Living in these shoes was probably the biggest compliment I can give them. I never thought about them. I never got home and couldn't wait to take them off. Typically, I'd forget they were even on and just walk all over the house until someone yelled at me. I never wished I had worn something else, unless I stepped into a puddle of anything I didn't see. They simply became part of my daily routine. From quick trips to all day events, they were just... comfortable. My feet sweat, but these shoes are so breathable that it was rarely an issue. As much as it sucks stepping into a large puddle, with a little patience and a bathroom hand dryer, you'll be walking comfortably again in about 15 minutes if it's just rain. Anything else, wash them with warm water and cheap soap, or whatever you have. And maybe shampoo if you want them to smell good afterward. When these shoes finally failed, it wasn't because they fell apart. It was because, since February 2024, I had simply and thoroughly worn them out. Properly worn out. That's exactly how I'd want a daily shoe to go out: not because of poor quality, but because I got every last mile they had to give. If you're looking for barefoot shoes that are comfortable, affordable, and can take an incredible amount of real-world abuse, I honestly don't think you can do much better for the money. The pictures aren't of a failed pair of poor quality shoes. They're pictures of a life well lived. I'd buy these again without hesitation. In fact, I already did. But only one pair. That's all I need for the next 2 to 3 years... Just the one...

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ European Style and Size - Quality above average - durability too early to tell
*by D***A on July 20, 2024*

Many inaccurate statements in other reviews (mostly the negative ones), so setting the record straight and providing an honest review. The hard part, of course, is that everyone has different opinions on shoes, the hardest thing to get a prevailing/standard opinion on. The incorrect stuff - there is no tongue; yes there is, it's just affixed all the way up the opening like a hunting boot - it has hard plastic shoelace inlets; no it doesn't, it's a soft fabric backed material a little stiffer than the main upper material - there is no padding in the foot; yes there is, but it is thinner than a tennis shoe, more than a leather dress shoe (higher quality ones). It doesn't have memory foam/gel, etc. like many tennis shoes do now. -they are narrow; this is a lot subjective in the reviews, no measurements, but IMHO, they are not wide, and not really advertised like that as I saw it a few days ago. They 'feel' a little tight/different, mostly because the middle section/eyelet material is stiffer than the main shoe material which is very soft and I assume breathable. This could create a 'ridge' you'd feel if laced tight. I generally get 'hot spots' around my ankles in hunting boots, this doesn't feel like that and once broken in (if they do break in) it shouldn't be noticeable. -no heel retention; I list this as a pro below, it actually cups my heel very well, better than most tennis shoes (what wears out first besides the sole) and dress shoes until they're broken in Pros -price - got these on Prime day for $35 which if they last (just received today) is a good deal -main material - it is very soft, shouldn't create any rubbing but for the above perceptions for some, and durability is a question, we'll see -sole - I cannot see why this would be more slippery than any other 'tennis shoe' like bottom, if they get dirty or other slippery substance on them, they may be slippery - never had a pair that wasn't in that situation - heel portion, as above cups very nice and grabs and doesn't slip like most new shoes do at first (or all the time and wear out - at least for me) Cons -you can feel the sole through the cushion - is subjective, my BMI is harder so I feel more in my feet as far as uneven -medium width, not wide; I have wider feet, but I've had shoes too wide too - these are not 'tight' but feel a bit snug, but are also brand new, not sure how much they will 'break in'. -sizing - my feet measure 12 1/2, that's the option I picked, the sticker as you can see says 46 which is European Men's, Google AI says both a 46 is a 12 and a 45 is a 12 1/2, go figure. For me, if I stand up, my toe almost touches standing still, meaning it will rub. I put on my well broken retired tennis shoes and the distance is the same and do not hurt at all, so I assume these will be fine. I considered sending back because they do not feel 'soft and smooth all over' like some tennis shoes do ($100 Nike/etc.), but they are intended minimalist and some talk about benefits for plantar (it's not planter folks, that's for plants or peanuts :-),) fasciitis, which I have, so I'm going to keep and try them out. All the testing was done with low ride thin athletic socks. -
