Review: THIS WOULD BE A TEN STAR REVIEW. . . - THIS WOULD BE A TEN STAR REVIEW if it were possible! ! ! Recently my 10 year old coffee maker went out on me and I had to opt for St**b***'s $5.00 cup of diluted mud while I tried to make up my mind on what type of coffee maker to get. UGGGHHHHH - ABSOLUTELY NO COMPARISON! Iced coffee & cold brew ARE TOTALLY DIFFERENT if done right. Instead of replacing my electric coffee maker, I decided to get myself a Takeya Cold Brewer because I enjoy Cold Brewed Coffee (CBC) a lot more and no matter what you get, Home Brewed is absolutely the two hands down WINNER in comparison to SB. I happened to be in a 'goodwill-like' store a week ago and found a NEW One Quart Takeya for just $5. I brought it home, washed it and immediately put it to use. I had my first mind blowing cup the following morning. Now I'm anxiously anticipating receiving the 2 Quart Takeya in a few days and really look forward to being able to brew enough to last up to a couple of weeks from it - more like a week's amount of coffee. My choice of coffee is dark roasted, full flavored TopShelf Lion's Maine Mushroom Coffee. The Lion's Maine Nootropic in this coffee is a very welcome ingredient that's highly effective. UPDATE: The Pairing of the Takeya Cold Brew Coffee Maker and my coffee of choice is producing the best coffee I have ever had and it's beyond easy to brew a batch with substance (not diluted) that lasts more than a week unrefrigerated - nearly syrupy. I fill a 20 oz. BPA-free bottle 1/3 full with the CBC and put it in my freezer and once it's frozen, I add my unchilled CBC to the bottle and Im good for the day. The flavor from this method is excellent, but more water can be added if you just want more brew to drink. Diluted, this brew still retains full flavor. Tons of caffeine to shift your morning into HIGH GEAR W/ CLARITY OF MIND, BUT WITHOUT ANY CRASH OR JITTERS. I guarantee that one sip will have you hooked for life - it really is this great! NOTE: I know everyone has their own personal favorite, but I've been hooked on the typically electric coffee maker brew of TopShelf Lion's Maine Mushroom Coffee for about a year now and gone through more than 20 bags of this EXCELLENT coffee (since October 1, 2021) and look forward to many more. I've given a few away as gifts and all recipients have loved it. It is everything the seller says it is and it's flavor is definitively Top Shelf, if you use the right amount of grinds with an electric coffee maker. If it's bitter, you're using too much grinds. I use a very little amount of Stevia and it's perfect. IMO, this coffee IS SOOO SMOOTH that there is no need for any type of creamer. The Takeya really does make a great coffee greater! I'm from Hawai'i and have had the finest Kona Coffees available. When I'm in the mood, I create my own blend of Top Shelf & Kona coffee for extra special occasions. NOTE: if your current choice of coffee grinds are fine and you notice sendiment at the bottom of the Takeya Brewer just remember the expensive delicious chocolate covered coffee beans we coffee snobs enjoy - LOL. If the grinds are small enough to get through the fine mesh, stir or shake your drink up and it'll go down without much noticing and if you don't like that toss / waste your current stash and get yourself a bag of coarsly ground beans or just stick with your overpriced diluted beverage from SB's. To each their own.
Review: Buy it! - Easy to use, brilliant design, can hold it from the top or the side, leak proof, easy to clean-highly recommend!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can you use this to make ice tea? it seems the same as the Takeya ice tea maker but with a different colored top.**
A: It's not the same filter. The coffee maker uses an ultra-fine mesh filter, while the iced tea maker uses one that is not as fine. We also recommend using two filters - one for coffee and one for tea to ensure that you get the best taste from each beverage.

**Q: The suggested 28 tbsp coffee almost filled up the filter thingy - some grounds were even dry after sitting. What measurement works best?**
A: After my first attempt, I also experienced dry grounds. The next time, I put the filter in the pitcher and gently ran water over it. Then I filled the pitcher with water and let it sit for 24 hours (I’ve seen some people only let it sit for 12-16)… It came out amazing. I drank it straight from the pitcher, black. Omg

**Q: When do you add infuser? do you put infuser in after 32 ounces or after 3/4 full? thanks. the instructions say to add 32 ounces and to fill 3/4 full.**
A: Add the infused after filling the container/pitcher with water. 32 ounces is about 3/4 full but honestly you don't need to be THAT exact with it. Miss it by a little and it will be insignificantly stronger. Miss it by a little too much and it will be insignificantly weaker. It really won't make much of a difference either way unless you have a ridiculously refined pallet. Personally, I just fill it up and eyeball when I think it's about 3/4 full and then I put the infuser in (the infuser is already filled with the coarse ground coffee beans when I put it in the pitcher).

**Q: The suggested coffee amount seems so wasteful (14-16 tbsp) can you get away with using less?**
A: You can try using less, stsrt with 9nor 10, then cold steep it for 24 hrs or even 48. Some brand names cold brew much longer than twelve hours.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Everything you need to know and differences from the iced tea maker
*by T***8 on November 4, 2020*

I purchased both this and the iced tea maker as a way to make my own beverages at home and save some money as well. They are both great products and you might be wondering if they are different at all. First of all, this product works great. Like all Japanese products, it feels high-quality. It is essentially a pitcher with a two-piece detachable filter and an airtight lid with basically two "notch" positions - closed and "open enough to pour," though you'll probably just take the lid off when you serve. The pitcher is oblong, which doesn't come through in the pictures, so you can lay it on its side for brewing, which is recommended for the coffee maker. The handle is also big and thick, with a rubberized grip. The differences between this and the iced tea maker are basically that the filter material used feels different. This has a silky, denser mesh, while the iced tea maker is a more standard, coarse, more open mesh. You can buy replacements for either one. The iced tea maker has a method of pouring hot water directly into the maker for brewing that is not advertised for this one, although everything is exactly the same except for the filter so I'm pretty sure you can use that method with the coffee maker as well, although again the filter material itself is different. The iced tea maker also comes with a little cup that acts as a holder for the filter, which can stand up by itself when the lid is not screwed on. The coffee maker does not come with the cup. I also found that, in general, tea soaks up less water than coffee, so I had to take out the coffee maker halfway through the brew, maybe before I went to sleep, and fill it up with some more water, whereas I didn't have to do that with the iced tea maker. I did find that the handle part of the pitcher where the lid screws in, the actual colored part, often feels slightly loose and made me feel like I had to tighten it slightly. Please note that only the color of this piece and the lid are different. The two-piece filter only comes in black no matter what color you choose. One piece of the filter screws into the lid and the actual filter part screws into that first piece. It has a flat bottom, so can stand-up by itself, as previously mentioned. Of course, this is a great airtight pitcher in and of itself, even when you're not using the filter and just need something big to mix/shake a drink in and pour it. It takes about 2 cups of ground coffee to brew a full pitcher, and I have noticed the slightest bit of leaking as I use this maker. We're talking a few drops after an overnight of brewing on its side and sealed airtight. If you close it all the way and hold it upside down, nothing is going to immediately leak unless you leave it that way for an extended period of time. It's slightly harder to clean out the coffee maker just because coffee grounds are messier than tea, including some thick soupy buildup that you're going to see at the top of the filter. Get ready to shake out about 95% of it into your trash can and rinse out the rest below a running sink. It's also a little hard to find the exact perfect way to pour coffee grounds into the filter without spilling any, and I've settled on using a corner of the bag itself to do it. The iced tea maker seems to come in brighter colors than the coffee maker. Takeya also makes a spa water infuser version of this with a more open plastic filter, but you can easily use this or the coffee maker and just infusion spa water by dropping fruit directly into the water, without having to use the filters at all, which will give you a stronger flavor anyway. The instructions tell you to use medium roast beans, but I love blonde roasts the most and I have made very good cold brew with this. Just make sure you use filtered water obviously and not tap water since you are cold brewing this, and wash everything thoroughly after each use before re-brewing. I have found that flavored beans like vanilla or hazelnut taste absolutely amazing cold brewed with this maker. Please note that you will not yield a full 2 quarters of brewed coffee because the filter and the grounds take up alot of volume in the container. I can get about 3-4 large glasses.
