This one has earned a spot on my pedalboard. The plexi troll really does live up to its name; its tones are very "Marshall flavored" and really capture the hot-rodded plexi sound it is trying to emulate. If you are looking for a high gain British-style distortion, this one will not disappoint. It is very clear and articulate and with a solid midrange that will cut through well in a mix or band setting. If you are looking for a more scooped, modern American distortion then you ought to look elsewhere. My one complaint is that I would prefer a wider gain range. There is little difference in tone with the gain control at 11 o'clock versus maxed. I'd like it better if keeping the gain control lower would yield a more modest gain to open up more tonal possibilities. If you are technically inclined perhaps this could be modded to do exactly that. Either way this is an extremely affordable way to add another distortion flavor possibility to your existing rig.
