You can buy various types of Cardboard kits on Google's website, but I decided to check Amazon first (as I always do) to see if any would be available here in order to get Prime shipping. I was glad to see that there was, saving me about ten days of waiting time (thanks, Amazon!). After checking the different reviews on Amazon, I decided on this one in particular. I like the cool design, and wanted one that would be comfortable and sturdy.When holding this kit up to my eyes, it's very comfortable. To wear it with the included headband, there is some slight discomfort at the bridge of the nose where the stretchy headband places a bit of pressure from holding it secure to your head. I plan to put a bit of foam there to make it more comfortable.It was easy to get started with this kit. First, you'll need to download the free Cardboard app from the app store (for my android phone, it was in the Google Play store). It took maybe ten seconds to figure out how to fold the Owl cardboard into the right shape for viewing. By scanning the code on the Owl kit with the Cardboard app, my phone instantly synced with the type of kit I was using. After that, I slid my phone in and was ready to start viewing.I think this kit is definitely worth the amount I paid for it ($13), giving a great introduction into VR at a fraction of the cost of other systems. Especially with the prime shipping, this is cheaper than buying one directly from the Google website. The design of this kit is much cooler looking than the other kits, as well. The cardboard is pretty thick and sturdy, and the velcro has been holding up well to the abuse my daughter has put upon it. The button on the righthand top side is easy to press and works just as it's supposed to. I also like that it came with a headband and velcro pieces to attach it where I wanted to.And of course, the most important question: Does it work? Yes! It works great. My experience with it has been very similar to when I tried out the Oculus Rift VR system, and I've found it to be compatible with several different apps as well as YouTube videos. My daughter was amazed with it, as was my husband and my mother.
