The eye of the needles can be fragile if the hole you create in the leather isn’t wide enough for it, so it’s important NOT TO FORCE IT if it’s difficult to pass. Make the hole in the leather wider, then try again. If you have to use your entire arm strength and body to get the needle to pass, you risk damage to the needle. The needles are not weak themselves, they are good for a first time set. There are plenty of needles, tools in a variety of points- and my favorite so far are the curved needles. For repairing crappy work boots with this set, I’ve been able to save a lot of money.
