Confusion
There is some confusion as to whether or not this can be used as a mouth gargle or nasal wash. The English language instructions only describe topical use. The comments here and answers to questions are not definitive either. However, I translated some of the Hungarian/Romanian leaflet and outlined in a box on the back it does translate to eye irrigation and ‘post operative mouth washings’. Those both seem pretty ‘internal’ to me.The ingredients include ‘non-oxynol nine’. I found a dental website that states that this is benign as a mouth wash ingredient. It’s a lot of faffing about to discover if this is safe or not as a mouth wash. This is not a criticism of the product itself - I remember snorkelling in Australia and if you cut yourself on coral reefs you had iodine dabbed on when back on board your boat - but it's a sorry affair that this country cannot provide good cheap healthcare and sell iodine mouth washes as standard. It will be useful as a topical agent but I wonder if we will have the courage to try it ‘off label’.

It's in English!
useful to have handy, and yes, it does have an English language leaflet, unlike the tube of cream which I've bought via Amazon

Easy to use
Minor issue between the pads on a paw to deal with, no problems with application and easy to rinse away without distress. Better safe than sorry for all. Checked with the vet before hand and there were other options - no distress with this for short term use. Won't juggle with camera for this one

Highly recommend it
I had an ear piercing and it got infected. I got really anxious and worried about it.My friend advised me to use iodine tincture, hence I ordered Betadine. This helped me to clear up the infection nicely and reasonably quickly and my ear (cartilage) pearcing is healing nicely now. It helped that my (nurse) mom used to apply iodine tincture on my wounds when I was a child, and that I could read the Hungarian instructions. It was worth every penny, and now I can keep my ear (in original shape) 🙈.

brilliant stuff
This kind of iodine (povidone iodine ) is brilliant stuff. Used to be able to get it easily, now seems only this one company makes it, abroad, had to really search for it. Why isn't it sold in UK any more? Life-saver for some huge broken blisters on my ankles, covered them with it each time i had to change dressings and stopped them getting infected. It's a bit stinging on so that it can start to heal without being so harsh on the healing tissue. I used it for 2 or 3 weeks continuously, until scabs had formed properly. . It lasts ages as you only need a little at a time, and I know of no other disinfecting agent which does such powerfully disinfecting job without also being very harsh on healing tissue, (except possibly colloidal silver but I always start with iodine first as I know it will definitely disinfect thoroughly) so I gave it 5 stars for value even though expensive . Be careful not to lose the English instructions which are there but on a smaller bit of paper than the hungarian ones so easily missed.
