The exterior is all leather except for the top ankle cuff and the tongue. I added an arch support and waterproofed them. They appear solidly built. He didn't get any blisters the first day, like some shoes will do to you. He was VERY excited that they were available in his size. He has very small feet, a size 7. It's very hard for him to find shoes that are in his shoes. They are real leather and he does not slip and slide in them when it's raining.
