The finish was not smooth or uniform on all 4 sides. If these were dipped in molten nickel, there may have been impurities in the mixture. Just for my piece of mind, I have cleaned the claws with acetone to give them all a coating of clear lacquer before attaching them to the leather. This was my fault for not looking further into the purchase before ordering.
