It does not appear starchy to me but I would suggest going to the Bob's Red Mill web site to answer that question. **Q: Carb count** A: 10g of carbohydrates per 1/4 cup, with 6g of fiber. So a total of 4g of net carbs per 1/4 cup. **Q: Would soaking the bran improve the taste and texture without losing the stool softening and motivating benefits?** A: My Fibromyalgia Nurse gave me an easy recipe that mixes Wheat bran & apple sauce equal amounts*. I use unsweetened in the single serve size (1/2 cup) to make a batch. (I don't use sweetened because sugar's not good for the gut.) Take 2 teaspoonsful** daily- adjust the time of day once your body regulates - only takes a couple days. *When mixing, put in the Wheat bran first so the apple sauce keeps the flakes from floating off! **I use a regular teaspoon not a measuring one & "level it off".
