The red light truly works because most animals for instance, my dog dock, cannot see the red light. The red light is very bright, but don’t ride it with your finger on the light too much or you will run down the battery. Mine seem to have a hesitation about keeping perfect time the first couple of days, but I don’t know what it was after that. It hasn’t missed a minute. Go ahead and take out the extend extended protection plan. Just make sure you let a professional change the battery for you. That way they can ensure that the rubber gasket is put back into place as this watch is somewhat splash proof from water or rain. The clip is still attached very tightly, and the light still is strong - - the watch keeps excellent time, although I did have to set it forward about 1 minute since I initially set in last year. The crystal is scratched now, but otherwise it's hanging in there.
