Unless you have cell reception when you begin your trip, the trip will not record. I’ve spent so much tome working with tech support and several important things were missed by this camera. Then when I needed it for a crash (luckily it wasn't involving me) The footage wasn't on my phone. I contacted the "24/7 support" only to receive a email the next day. They gave me instruction on how to use wifi to connect to my computer (unnecessarily complicated). Come to find out after countless emails back and forth THE SOFTWARE IS INCOMPLETE. So I couldn't even get the footage from the dash cam. They wasted my time and I would have sued if I had been the one involved in the accident.
