## Description

Pony heavy-duty press screws are ideal for making veneering frames and are especially useful for deep-reach surface clamping. The large, removable cast-iron swivels make installation a breeze, and the threaded bushings fit easily into a one-inch hole. 11/16-inch diameter, cold-drawn steel screws with special, smoothly cut acme threads provide a tight hold.

Review: Budget Wagon Vise - New functionality for old workbench. Adding a Wagon Vise was the best option for my old workbench. I didn't want holes in the main part of my bench because I have drawers underneath that would collect sawdust. I do have a 3 inch overhang on the front however. A good Wagon Vise will cost ~ $300 and would be the way to go for many. The Pony is usable however. Downside is more threads/inch, no quick release and a handle that screws out and can then get in your way rather than being captured with a bearing and staying close to the bench. Upside is it works just fine. Quality is good, it comes greasy and there was a casting seam on the handle that bothered me and required filing off. Needed to file the foot flat as it was domed and drill holes for mounting screws. Not a big deal. 9 inch travel with the 12 inch Pony. I use a double riser spaced at 12 inches so I can clamp the work more towards the center of my bench but still have capability for longer work pieces. I use 6 inch hole spacing on my bench. I don't think I would put one on an expensive maple bench, but it may be a solution for an inexpensive bench or to try out the usability of a wagon vise.

**Q: Does 9” refer to the threaded rod area or the height of the item entirely?**
A: the threaded portion is 8 inches, the nut is about 2 inches, leaving about 6 inches of actual travel

**Q: I wish to use this to make a book press..does the base have screw holes in it to mount it to a base board. ?**
A: I purchased the same press screw to make a book press.  It does not have holes in it.  I made a piece out of wood that went over the press foot and attached to my press board.  It not only holds the press foot in place, but adds rigidity to your press board.

**Q: What is the max extension distance from base to base?**
A: about 6 inches of travel, 8 inches thread, 2 inches nut
