Just like a human, cats and dogs need good nutrition and what you put in their little bodies will come back to haunt you if you aren't careful. She had no idea the supposedly "expensive" food she was buying in the grocery stores was nothing but corn, wheat and animal byproducts and nutritionally very unhealthy. Her cat deveolped stomach tumors which became malignant. A very sad lesson learned. I had been feeding him Blue Buffalo Wilderness Kitten, and while that is also a very good product, he just wasn't in love with it.....I just knew by the way he picked at it that it wasn't making him happy. They both have almost all 5 star ratings pretty much anywhere you look. I decided to go with Fromm because Origen is made in Canada and Fromm in the USA, which I prefer buying Our new kitty just loved this stuff from the moment I opened the bag and he smelled it. He's not a big eater and had just finished 1/2 a can of Tiki Cat, which is a lot for him...so I kind of thought he wouldn't even touch the Fromm for a while. NOT SO! I put a handful in his bowl and he jumped on it and gobbled it down in about 30 seconds...acted like he hadn't eaten in days! We couldn't have been more thrilled....we finally found something he loved! The only complaint I have is that it's pretty pricey. I wish desertcart would find a better source so it would be available on Prime. It would help if we didn't have to pay shipping. But, we are so in love with our little guy that unless I find something else just as good for him and that he loves as well, it looks like we'll be dipping into our retirement fund!. . I'm not only a cat and dog rescuer, but a horse rescuer, and discovered that, although horse slaughter for human consumption is not legal in this country, our horses are being slaughtered for pet food. Horse meat is never organic. Domestic horses are given drugs, eat a variety of insecticide-laden vegetation, etc. Even food that does not indicate that it has horse meat is very often tainted with it. We found this to be the case when testing food distributed by a purveyor of high end pet foods here in Georgia. When some horse owners want to dispose of a horse, this company is called to send a 'hit man' to shoot a horse in the head then render it for pet food. Beware of any animal byproduct not named by specie on the label (i.e. chicken, beef, etc.) Anything labeled 'animal' (fat, byproduct, etc.) could mean anything, and that includes pets, often euthanized and rendered for their fat to create the tasty fat coating on many low-end dry pet foods. Fromm's is a company that has been around for many years. Their ingredient list is stellar and, although the source of every ingredients is unknown, the quality appears to be consistent.
