The chances are excellent that you already own a few knives and know what you're looking at. I'm a spyderco nut. I have a half dozen or so with a few kershaws, S.O.G's and a Benchmade sprinkled in. The one that fought it's way to the top of my collection and the one that I just keep grabbing in the morning is the Native 5. I got it as a gift and it is a fantastic knife. It's the first one I've owned with the S35VN steel and it is definitely a hyped steel for a reason. It's been 6 months or so of moderate use and the factory edge is still flawless and I don't see myself needing to sharpen it any time soon. I said all of that to say this, as much as I adore that knife it's going to lose it's spot at the top to this Paramilitary 2. For one, I much prefer the G-10 to the FRN of the Native 5. It has a nicer feel, adds a little heft and just looks and feels like a superior material. Number two, I prefer the blade size and shape on the PM2. That's not really a fair knock on the Native 5 because if you're going to buy that knife then you go in knowing what it is you're purchasing. But for my tastes the PM2 blade shape and size and lack of serrations is what I prefer. I also prefer the way this one locks in to place and releases. Again, it just makes for a classier and beefier feel. Now of course the blade is absolutely sharp enough to shave my wife's legs right out of the box. That goes without saying, or should for any quality knife at this price point. And if you're looking at this knife, chances are you realize that it really is one of those iconic knives that has been around and earned it's reputation. This knife really lives up to the hype. Review: buy it - I've had this knife for two weeks now so I feel I can review it. First of all if you're thinking about buying this knife you should. If you don't you will always wonder. I don't know if I would recommend this blade as an edc. It's a little large for me personally and I would feel uncomfortable taking it out in public. However I think it's great as an outdoor or work/utility knife. I carry this exclusively at my job Monday-Friday. At home and everywhere else I opt for a smaller blade. I love this thing at my job though. I can't even imagine going back after having used this. I have put a beating on this thing more than what I think the average person would and it's SOLID. I work in a machine shop with constant need for cutting wires, cardboard, zip ties, plastic wrapping, rubber mats etc. not your typical "everyday" stuff like postage and the occasional desertcart box. This thing came razor sharp and able to shave hair. After two weeks of what I would consider brutal abuse on a knife it's still sharp. It's not hair shaving but more than capable of making short work of whatever I need to cut. This is my first s30v blade but from my experience it's great. Blade was centered perfectly, lockup is solid as a rock, love the hole because I do wear gloves a lot at my job and it makes it super convenient to open. Love the compression lock. Love the clip. Allows just enough of the knife to stick out of the pocket to be able to grip and take the knife out fast. G10 scales are super grippy which is great because I constantly have oil on my hands. In short I feel like this knife was made for my occupation and I couldn't be happier with the purchase. Like I said probably not the best edc. I have a sog visionary 1 I use for that.
