The camera does not stick out of the case. If you place the phone down on a flat surface, the camera will not touch the flat surface. How well does it protect the front of the phone?** A: Because its so slippery I have dropped it a couple times, and it pretty very well. But one time it landed on pavement and cracked my tempered glass screen cover. Who knows if that side landed on a small rock when it fell, but it did splinter that corner of my screen protector while the case was on. Also it seems like the corners are starting to loose the color a bit. It's a good minimalist cases that fits wonderfully in my arm band, but I'm looking for something a little bit more protective now. I have dropped my poor phone SO many times since I put this case on it several months ago, and the phone hasn't seen a single scratch. The case, on the other hand, is so beat up I'm going to need to order another one soon. But when I do, it will be the exact same case! The corners and edges are particularly bad, but it's been in the glove compartment of a RZR 900 bouncing around the landscapes of southern Utah for 3 hours straight. When we stopped, I was actually scared to take my phone out because I thought for sure it was going to be broken beyond repair. Nope, the phone itself was absolutely perfect still! On the same trip, I dropped it down a steep slope of slick rock while hiking in Zion. It bounced and flipped the whole way down, and the phone was still fine. Of course I also drop it almost daily getting in and out of the car. My bf and family have all been amazed at how well this little case has held up! Easy to get on and off, making changing cases simple. I really like this color and hope I can find one just like it for my next phone. Unfortunately I've dropped my phone one too many times in the last 2 years and the screen finally cracked so I wasnt able to use this one for long. The case is still in one piece though and wasn't damaged during the fall.
