Doctor might tell you to use 2-3 times a day but even if you fall into a pattern of just once a day it is helpful. With a fissure you may get a scab that falls off and then the texture of the skin changes but I felt a tear drop shaped tear change into a new layer of different skin and things feel better down there. I also used hemmoroid wipes which are also good for fissues, the kind where you can put one there for 15 minutes and I did this after the sitz bath and I used a generic hemmoroid cream for the fissure as well. I had a fissure for two years and it just got worse and worse with me just using cream. I didn't know a sitz bath could make it better. I am about 155 lbs and this bath did not crack on me yet. It is wonderful and I would recommend it to anyone who has a fissure that has stayed with them for years.
