Bought these based on some reviews I read on MTB forums. On the whole, I like these tires though I might change to something with less tread for the surfaces I regularly ride on.Traction seems good so far on most surfaces I ride on (pavement, concrete, dirt, crushed limestone), though like any tire I've used so far it gets a little sketchy on turns in soft loose limestone paths. I think this tire might suit me better if I start riding at some of the local bike parks.Ride so far seems good, I have no real complaints other than the amount of debris the gets kicked up by the tread blocks, but that's to be expected with this type of tire. Previously, most of my riding was on a Bontrager H5 which was skinnier and these seem to roll almost as nicely as those despite the more aggressive tread design and larger width. Comparing these to the Bontrager XR1 that I only used for a week is a night and day difference. The XR1's had me hating life itself everyday I took my bike out.

Very light and fast on the climbs, fair-decent grip on the downhills (but needs full inflation to avoid pinch flat)

*by L***N on Reviewed in the United States on June 6, 2016*

I put this on the rear of my 26 inch full suspension bike with 5.5 inches of travel. I kept my Kenda Nevegal up front. The CrossMark is nice and light and great for climbing, but I learned that these fast and light tires need FULL air at all times or they WILL pinch flat. At 215 Lbs I had been able to do rocky single-track with 25 Lbs air or less (and not tubeless) with my Kendas. I didn't do this on purpose, sometimes I was in a rush and when I added air later, (sometimes was sometimes even lower than that). Now, I'm 195 Lbs and I pinch flatted with the CrossMark with #27 Lbs, riding the same rocky trails. I won't be changing my Nevegal up front anytime soon, I can tell you that...unless its for a Maxxis Minion DH, but that's only to get the matching yellow lettering (cheesy, I know).

    tough, reliable tire

This is a tough yet smooth-riding tire. I blew out a series of tubes and a non-Maxxis tire prior to finding this CrossMark on Amazon Marketplace. It's the original equipment tire for my 29er and I've had multiple rides with no blow-outs or flats on the same trails since installing it. The bead on this 2.1 inch seats easier than a non-Maxxis 2.2 inch I had replaced it with.
