The "fur" is similar to dryer lint and the bones are plastic. All of the bones are just wrapped in the middle and there's really no "dissecting " to it. All you need to do is unwrap the fur and they're all piled in the middle. The picture shows the bones mixed in the fur. I give this 3 stars because the plastic bones are pretty cool, especially the bird skull. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Perfect sanitary option *by A***L on Reviewed in the United States on October 20, 2019* I have used these two years in a row in a first/second grade combo class. They work well to illustrate the substance of owl pellets, providing a fur element and plastic bones. The "fur" is like dryer lint and the plastic bones are all in the middle of the bundle, not mixed around in the "fur" as shown in the photo. However, this is the best solution I can find for the differentiation needed for my few blind students in my special education science class who can't see well enough to pick out the tiny individual bones normal owl pellets have.
