I plan to spread this about 1/2" thick x 12" wide on my garden rows and till it in. I haven't done that part yet, but I'm expecting to get about 100 ' of row "covered". It helps to soak the biochar in compost or comfrey tea for a couple of days to inoculate it with beneficial bacteria before putting it in your soil. **Q: Is this product good for Organic gardens ?** A: IT IS PERFECT FOR ORGANIC GARDENS. In fact, it is beyond what most organic gardeners do. My soil and plant health have improved since I added this to my soil. Not only that, but the increase in symbiotic fungi and bacteria avaliable to connect with my plants has greatly reduced their water stress so that I do not have to water as often. **Q: I have all ready planted my garden. Can I just put it directly around my plants? Can we get a straight answer of what we're buying? ### ⭐⭐ Severley underfilled- You are not getting what you pay for *by D***A on July 25, 2021* The quality of this biochar product is fine, so I am giving a couple of stars for that. The problem is that, while it is clearly advertised that you will get 1 Cubic Foot of the product, their bags are severely under-filled. I performed a careful measurement and it came in at less than 75% of a cubic foot. The owner of the company does respond to emails, but provides less than satisfactory responses. I was satisfied with quality of this biochar and would have been perfectly happy if he either provided me my missing 1/4 cubic foot or a 25% refund. However his response was "I recommend you buy your biochar where you get the “proper” amount." By this I guess he means from someone who is honest and who will provide full value to their customers. Bio-reef certainly does not. Fortunately there are other producers out their who are honest and provide truthful quantities of a quality product. Update written 3/1/2024. I was just researching suppliers of Biochar to see what the present options are. I found something interesting on Soilreef's website. They are pretty blatantly advertising how under-filled their shipments are. They tell you that to make a 5% biorchar/soil mix you should use one of their "1 Cubic Foot" bags in a 48 square foot area dug in 2 inches. Do the math. If you had a true cubic foot of biochar, you could make a 5% mix in 2 inches of 120 square feet!
