## Overview

The Airthings 2950 Wave Radon is a smart, battery-operated radon detector that continuously monitors radon gas, humidity, and temperature in your home. It delivers accurate short- and long-term radon readings directly to your smartphone via Bluetooth, eliminating the need for costly lab tests. ## Description

The Airthings Wave Radon is a smart radon detector providing accurate continuous and long-term results straight to your smartphone. No more single-use radon test kits - this digital radon monitor shows daily, weekly, monthly and yearly measurements in the Airthings mobile app. Why is always-on radon monitoring important? Long-term exposure to high radon gas levels is the leading cause of lung cancer among non-smokers. With Wave Radon, you will learn if your home has a radon gas problem that needs fixing. Radon levels fluctuate all the time. That's why it's important to measure the indoor concentrations over time. By calculating short and long-term average radon gas levels, you get the most accurate picture of your home's exposure to this dangerous gas. If you have already installed a radon mitigation solution, long-term monitoring will help you ensure that it is working as expected. If your mitigation solution ever fails, your Wave Radon digital radon detector will help you identify the failure so that you can respond quickly. Use the data to protect your home and loved ones from the dangers of radon gas and make sure radon levels stay low. Because it is battery-powered, you can place it where you need it without worrying about cables and the proximity of power outlets. When within Bluetooth range, you can sync Wave Radon with your Airthings app to manage notifications, check current long and short term average radon levels, and analyze trends over time. Quick check the current readings by passing yur hand in front of the monitor. The color-coded glow ring will light up to indicate the current levels; green (acceptable/low), yellow (warning), or red (danger).

Review: Airthings 2950 Wave Radon – Accurate, Easy to Use, and Reliable - The Airthings 2950 Wave Radon is a great investment for monitoring indoor radon levels. It’s easy to install—just place it in the desired location, sync it with the app, and start tracking. No complicated setup or wiring needed. The device seems fairly accurate, providing both short-term and long-term radon readings. While no consumer-grade monitor can replace professional lab testing, the results have been consistent and responsive to changes in ventilation and weather conditions. The app is user-friendly, displaying clear data trends and sending alerts if levels get too high. The wave-to-check feature is a nice touch—just wave your hand over the device to get an instant status update via a simple color-coded LED light. Battery life is solid, and the Bluetooth connectivity works well. Overall, this is a reliable, well-designed radon monitor that offers peace of mind without the hassle of constant manual testing. Highly recommended for homeowners looking for an easy way to keep an eye on radon levels!
Review: Radon is the real deal, get it checked out. - I've had a home office in the basement for years, but due to Covid found myself spending more time down there than ever. A month or two into lockdown I seemed to be having shortness of breath issues and thought for a while that my mind was just playing tricks on me, "do I have the sickness..."? Well, I let that go for a while and when it didn't get better I did some research and decided to check my radon levels. I started with a mail in 3 day charcoal kit which came back somewhere in the low 4 range, not great, not terrible either since 4 is the recommended max level. Finding out that radon can vary over time, I decided to buy the Airthings Radon sensor. Overall, setup was quick, I agree the bluetooth design is a little annoying, but I've never had an issue syncing as long as I was in the normal 30foot range that bluetooth has. It doesn't sync in the background, only when you open the app. A WiFi option would be nice, but that would require a power cord, and I did appreciate that I could move this device around to several locations in the house which was easy with it being on batteries. Accuracy: After the 48 hour "acclimation" period, I saw the reported radon levels come right into line with the lab report. Then it kept climbing, then it dropped to almost nothing back in the green range, then back to red. Over and over every 2-3 days I'd be green, red, green, red, and I started to wonder if it was just a gimmick to make it look like it was doing something. It did seem to change with weather, but I could never put my finger on a pattern as the weather is always changing. Then I moved it from the basement to the main level for a few months, and the average was slightly lower, but I still bounced between acceptable and unacceptable levels. Finally, somewhere in the process I got actual Covid, got over it, and felt pretty much the same as before but I started to notice I felt better when I wasn't at home. We traveled for Christmas and had a vacation or two since someone has to keep the economy going... So I finally decided to install a radon fan on the passive pipe which was installed on our house during construction as required by code these days. The Airthings device had no way of knowing I just installed a fan, but it clearly picked up on the environmental change. In the screenshot you can see the radon level fall off a cliff and flatline in the green. In short, I no longer question if it was actually measuring anything, this thing works! I was surprised by the variability in radon levels over time, and I'd recommend anyone who's concerned to get a sensor like this. Go ahead and get a lab test as well just to confirm the sensor is good any working, but I do think there's a delay between your radon level and when it shows up on the sensor. This is surely why they tell you to wait 48 hours after setup before looking at the reading. I tried many times to open a window in my office when it turned red and never saw a blast of fresh air to make a difference. I'm not a physistist, but the sensor probably takes time to absorb or react to the radon, so let it sit and watch the trending over time. It's only been a week since installing the fan, and maybe my brain is giving my lungs a placebo effect, but I feel like it's made a difference.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Where should I place the monitor for best results?**
A: Only indoors (never outdoors), when placing it avoid areas of high ventilation as it could skew the results. We recommend placing it in areas where people gather like the kitchen or living room. Can be placed on a surface or wall-mounted.

**Q: Will I have accurate measurements from day 1?**
A: Humidity and temperature, are ready from day 1. For radon, your device displays its first 24-hour average after a full day of data. However long-term average is important, so wait until after the first month before you act.

**Q: Does this device come with Bluetooth connectivity?**
A: Yes, you can synchronize the monitor's data with the Airthings app when within Bluetooth range. Enable remote access to your Wave monitor by linking it to a WiFi connected View series monitor acting as a hub.

**Q: Why wait at least 30 days before acting on your measured radon level?**
A: Radon levels fluctuate due to weather changes, so a longer test provides a more accurate average, as short-term tests may miss this. Levels can take days to a month to stabilise within ±10% accuracy. Waiting at least 30 days ensures reliable results.

**Q: Why should I choose Airthings for radon monitoring?**
A: Our patented sensor has proven reliable since 2011 for both homeowners and professionals. Through the Airthings app, you get personalized guidance to understand and manage your home's radon levels effectively.

For starters - IF YOU EVER GET DRAIN TILE PUT IN YOUR BASEMENT START CHECKING RADON LEVELS IMMEDIATELY!!! (I'll get back to that.) I am changing my first review. I got a dud on the first order, but the replacement works great. I found the customer service to be very responsive in helping me set up the device, as well as with other questions from time to time. I got this continuous radon detector at the advice of a professional radon mitigation specialist. I had done two mail-in tests that came out high. As it was explained to me - and I can literally see it on the app now - radon levels in the basement fluctuate hourly. Up, down. It's the overall average over time that one needs to pay attention to. One or two mail-in tests shows nothing. I got the Air Things device and have had continuous radon level readings easily accessible on my phone. In watching the trend for the first year, all was reasonably well. They were low. I grew more comfortable, actually very comfortable, with the levels over time. Also when you pass by the device itself you can just wave your hand over it and it lights up. Green is good. Yellow questionable. Red bad. I reached a point where I checked the continuous read averages on the app from time to time after feeling comfortable with them, but still had the habit of waving my hand over the device when I passed by. Then one day I needed drain tile. They dug straight through the lower walls of the basement to put it in. Suddenly the device went red and didn't go back. I had levels way over 10. And then it over 14 and kept going passed 20! After drain tile workers dug through the walls radon levels just shot through the roof and stayed there. (At LEVEL 4 mitigation is required. Level 4 is dangerous. At level 3 mitigation is strongly encouraged. Level 20 is a death threat.) Two hours after the drain tile people drilled through the walls into the earth my radon levels went sky high and never came down. You can see levels and trends by the hour, the month the years. Had I not had the Air Things continuous radon detector already in place, I would have gone to bed for the next 10 years thinking my levels were good, or possibly never thinking about it at all. I had no idea radon levels were affected by drain tile installation. I never would have known without this device. Thank you Air Things for alerting me of the silent killer that suddenly assaulted my basement. Just get this device and use it! Save yourself. You will get a clear picture over time of the levels in your home. The mail in test really tells you nothing. And come to find out that if anything suddenly shifts and you have this device you will know. Obviously radon mitigation has since been put it. I used the Air Things app to reassure myself the mitigation system is working. And it is working. And I will have a continuous radon level reader in my home for the rest of my life.
