They are great. The first one I purchased at a Walmart "junk bin" sale - I think they stopped carrying it. I decided to purchase this one when my old one died. I was a bit shocked at the price but these seem to be hard to find so I guess it was worth it. They keep the phone functional for a reasonable time during power failures so, coupled with the battery operated handset, solve the problem of phone usage during blackouts (at least short blackouts). ### ⭐⭐⭐ I had to replace the 4 volt 4.5 AH battery but it now works. *by A***D on Reviewed in the United States on April 3, 2018* The 4 volt 4.5AH SLA battery was dead and would not charge. I purchased a new one and replaced it. I now have a wireless home phone with battery backup. The flashing green light indicating charging has yet to stop but the battery is charged to 4.26 volts and has lasted 3 hours when our power went out ### ⭐ DOA *by A***R on Reviewed in the United States on February 21, 2014* This would be a great low cost solution to keep the portable home phone base station active during an outage. However, the unit comes with several adapters but non of them fit my Panasonic system. I was able to cobble connectors by cutting the wires soldering on appropriate connectors. The next issue was it was not able to charge the battery and failed to output power when supply power was removed. After disassembling the unit and charging the battery separately, it still would not output voltage on loss of power. The battery appears to be functional and the charging indicator flashes as expected but the the battery voltage continues to decline.
