I had to use them once when the road to my house was under 3" of compacted snow, and it's steep too. My van became stuck when I had to give way to a car coming down (that would not have been able to stop). As a result I could not set off and I was stuck. I put these on and easily drove the rest of the way home, then reversed up onto my drive aslo steep. I was truly amazed at how well they work.
