It's comprehensive, well thought out, and most importantly organized. First aid means a rapid response and you can't waste time fumbling around in a mess of bandaids to find what you need. As a volunteer for my son's Cub Scout pack, I was looking for a larger kit than the small Surviveware FAK (pictured) I've owned and carried for a few years. It's also an excellent kit, but I needed something slightly larger. This Survival/FAK kit fit the bit and I'm paying out of pocket and didn't want to drop the money for the larger kit. Starting with the bag itself, it's exceptionally well built. There are straps for attaching to a car seat, post, or tree. I see myself putting this up in view while on campouts so it's available for anyone who needs it. The snap straps come in handy for attaching my gear kit (black bag). The bag is attached to the strap with hook and loop so it can be torn away in an emergency without messing with the buckle. The interior is well organized with integrated pouch pockets held tight by elastic. Nothing slides loose when the pouch is all zipped up. Regarding the survival gear, I'm pulling most of it out of the kit with the exception of the glow sticks and the flashlight. I can imagine cracking the glow sticks and hanging them with the bag after sun sets to make the kit visible after sunset. The flashlight will be useful for addressing injuries at night, if necessary. With the extra space now available, I made some additions to the kit. In the left part of the kit I added: oral pain reliever triple antibiotic with topical analgesic (2) single use liquid bandage smelling salts travel size acetaminophen travel size ibuprofen 1% cortisone brush on liquid bandage In the middle section I added: Israeli bandage (quick clotting sponge) foaming antibiotic wound wash (great for kids) On the right side I added: misc additional gauge squares Tegaderm transparent film dressings misc extra bandaids including fun colors for kids mole skin lightload towel With these additions I feel ready to address most injuries that could arise. In the future I'll most likely add a 36" SAM splint, SAM finger splints, tourniquet, instant ice pack, leukotape, and some zinc oxide cream. Though at that point I should probably upgrade to the large Surviveware kit. Review: A Comprehensive Kit - This is, by a thousand miles, the best first aid kit I've ever owned. I've bought them in the past, dinky little plastic boxes at a grocery store that basically have a few bandaids and a couple single serving packets of headache reliever. They are definitely not worth the few dollars I've spent on them. This pack feels ready for combat, in comparison. And that's not just hyperbole, with the heavy duty exterior and well-organized interior, this thing could take on just about any situation you would have cause to put it through. I ripped open the first aid kit and quickly found and utilized the antiseptic wipes, gauze, and medical tape. When it stopped bleeding, we cleaned it and applied the same a second time. By the next day it was a barely visible scratch. I love the molle webbing straps on the exterior, I've begun clamping various useful things to it since I received it. I do very much appreciate that this kit came with more than just the essentials for the most basic first aid. Things like a regular size folding knife, flashlight, and a multi-tool. I've added a few things inside and out like a larger flashlight, fire starting materials, a compass, some stormproof matches, even a Grayl geopress water filter. I keep it in my car because I'm generally wherever my car is, and if I'm out somewhere and my sweet first aid kit is safely at home then it does me little good. What can I say, if you want the best first aid kit you've probably ever had, that will last a lifetime and provide exactly what you need when the situation calls for medical aid, get this kit. When I bought it I was also prompted to register online and they sent me a small first aid guide and a tactical pen (with a hard tip for breaking car windows in an emergency and/or for self defense). I like the first aid supply layout, especially with all the pockets labeled. I was hoping to avoid buying a lot of unnecessary supplies for my bag, and the inclusion of the survival tools (knife, chain saw, multi-tool) seemed good for the price. The knife feels sturdy enough, although the multi-tool is really small (like keychain sized). There's also a little penlight included that needs a AAA-battery (not included) if you really want to make this kit ready-ready. All in all, I don't have any complaints about this kit. It's nice and compact, and the zipper for the case feels sturdy. It's for my bug-out bag, so I (hopefully) won't be putting it through its paces anytime soon. For the medical supplies alone, I feel pretty good with it for my 72-hr bag setup. As for the other gear, well, I'd rather have it in a pinch than not. I might mix and match some stuff out the kit in the future if it'll fit and if I find the time.
