XXX6.5C - RE Audio 6.5" XXX Series Car Component Speakers

As an audiophile and electronic junkie, I have owned a lot of car speakers over the years, i.e. Boston Acoustic, Focal, JL Audio, Morel, and these are half the price with better sound quality. I installed a set of these in the front and back of my 2005 Toyota Tacoma Prerunner and power them with a Soundstream HRU.4. While they sounded fantastic right out of the box, they are starting to loosen up after daily use over the past month or two and are really starting to show their quality. I have thrown various types of music at them at all levels, and I am amazed. These things have incredible separation and detail like Focal and Morel but can pound out SPL like Bostons. The silk dome tweeters are not harsh, and the woofers rarely distort, assuming a clean source.9 years I have been beating on these speakers, and they still sound amazing. I also have an RE Audio Sex 10D4 (not V2) powered by an orginal JL Audio Slash 500/1. Amazing. Unfortunately, RE Audio disappeared. If you can find these, components, get them.My only criticism is the tweeter mount. If you mount these on the outside of your vehicle panel, there is no protective covering for the silk dome of the tweeter. Some of you may have kids or a friend that is an idiot or both that can't control their impulsive desire to pinch, poke and rub the shiny silk domes. So far, I have warned the kids and other behaviorally challenged passengers not to fiddle with the silk. Silky domes should be heard and not seen. This is the U.S., not a beach in Europe, and we keep our silky domes covered.Disclaimer: I am not in any way affiliated with RE Audio and am not receiving any form of compensation for this review. Broken straight out of the box...

All I can say is good things about the XXX components.. installed them yesterday and they are nothing short of a high quality product in every way.. im running these @ 250w @ 2ohm per door and they dont even flinch... My doors are double 80 mil Noico, sealed openings and the midbass from these is amazing! Infact way better than the hertz or alpines that once filled my doors... these are so impressive that the two other locations are getting filled with the RE audio XXX components..

I just unboxed these a while ago, haven’t even installed them and just by the size of the magnets, and the build quality of the woofer basket, cable terminals, the woofer cone, etc and I gotta say I’m impressed. I knew these were gonna be beefy and high quality because I read many reviews, but I was not expecting to actually be AMAZED at what I was holding. Will update this review once installed if I don’t forget.

These speakers are beastly huge when I say large I do mean it since it is practically the size of a 8 or 10 in subwoofer I can barely fit this beast in the door without worrying about it hitting the window that is coming from the outside. The tweeters are not exactly small either is a three in beast that can produce highs perfectly. My car naturally has good amount of insulation but it is recommending to get some sound proofing material to prevent your door from shaking apart by Zeus level sound.

These are great sounding speakers, clear deep mid bass and clear tweeter sound. They are very power hungry thought, there is a power drop from running them through the passive crossovers provided. I have them running off a 600 watt Rockford punch amp, they are receiving 150 watts rms and seem like they want more. I would suggest ditching the passive crossovers and going with an amp that has an active crossover built in or buy a stand alone active crossover so they get the proper power.
