They both say dark roast espresso but taste different? Why?** A: Iirc, the plastic ones were the ones they made in Europe and without official Nespresso backing. These new ones are official nespresso capsules, apparently. In my experience, aluminum capsules keep coffee fresher for longer than the plastic ones. I’ve hated every plastic capsule I’ve gotten over the years of owning a nespresso machine. Plus, as they mentioned, you can recycle the aluminium ones. Nespresso offers postage paid recycle bags where you just fill them up with used capsules, seal it and then mail it using UPS. I’m assuming that these Starbucks pods can be put in those bags. Peet’s coffee also makes aluminum pods and they have their own recycling bag program. Highly recommended ! *by T***R on 31 August 2020* Having been drinking Nespresso since past 10 years and having tried pretty much all their varieties and intensities, this Starbucks Dark Roast is an excellent addition. It is really really good. Intensity is around 10-11, not bitter, well rounded, smooth and tastes fantastic and a nice thick crema. It is a collaboration between Starbucks X Nespresso so the compatibility with the machine is no problem. You can pull out an espresso for a bold taste or a lungo for a slightly milder shot. I will certainly be purchasing more of this and can highly highly recommend this capsule. To be honest, I was getting bored of the Nespresso in-house capsules, they had started to taste boring; this item is a refreshing change and feels like coffee !
