But the netting is very fine mesh and probably would be able to keep our aunts if you tie it tightly **Q: Does this work on codling moth?** A: Yes if you bag the fruit before the moth hatches **Q: Would these work to keep aphids of the tender buds of a rose bush?** A: I don't think so. The bags and the drawstrings are very stiff, and it's hard to get them tied tightly around the stem of the fruit (or in this case, the bud). I've used them on cherries, grapes, peaches and apples. They worked pretty well on peaches and apples, but the cherries and grapes withered inside the bags. Also, small bugs were able to get in around the stems and they ate some of the grapes. Thank you.** A: Works for me, haven't had any problems with birds eating my tomatoes ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Used for seed saving *by P***F on January 31, 2021* I purchased these bags to cover the large blossoms of squash plants in order to avoid cross pollination for seed saving purposes. It looks like the mesh will be fine enough to exclude all flying insects and they seem to be well made. It will be as easy as selecting some blossoms the night before they bloom and slipping these bags over. The next morning, I'll remove the bags, hand pollinate, and replace the bag on the female blossom. The bag gets removed once the blossom falls off, at which point I'll loosely tie a piece of garden twine around the stem to identify the fruit for seed saving. I'm looking forward to putting these to good use this coming gardening year! I may also use a few for their actual purpose and protect the few apples I get on my tree each year. :) ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Seams sewn well and fabric is durable *by M*** on February 10, 2024* Works well for my use. Kept birds from damaging my fig crop. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Hard to attach *by T***M on August 12, 2021* Best way to prevent apple maggots and coddling moth is to individually bag each apple when they are about the diameter of a quarter. These work, and are sturdy. They are not easy to put on though. And though durable enough to re-use, it is hard to untie the knot you made so you can remove from the apple and reuse.
