The lights came with an adhesive strip and had a magnet attached so they could be attached to a steel surface. The problem is that to attach them to a non-steel surface one would need to use the double-stick adhesive pad. Then to change the batteries one would have to tear off the adhesive. I used these to attach to the wood surface and use the light's magnet to attach to the disk. Works great! Because my phone is heavy and these magnets are small, it falls from the mounting system. I recommend getting a bigger size magnet. I have an iphone xs max, so its heavy.
