It is also non-flammable. But the high temperature open flame will also burn and will not melt. **Q: Do they get hot to walk on barefoot an can you paint them with Cool Deck paint?** A: Mine are in a shady area and I have never walked on them barefoot. I don't think painting them would be a good idea. Not sure what cool Deck paint is but if it not flexible like the paver material I would expect the paint to peal off over time. Maybe some stain would work on them. Not sure that is much help but they are high quality and worked perfectly for the round surface I used them on. Can cut with a good razor knife to fit around posts or pipes. **Q: How do you determine the amount to buy for a given distance and width?** A: Just like any other rectangular paver. The box covers (i cant remember the exact sf) sf. So take your area and divide by the area of the box. Round up to another box if needed because depending on the shape you are filling there may be a bit more waste than with rectangular pavers These tiles do cut fairly easy with a razor knife so with some planning you might get down to 0 waste! I purchased these to go on my walkway to the pool but flip flops are still needed. They are also quite tiny. Make sure when you buy them that you check out the dimensions. I have included a photo for reference. That is on me. I should have looked at the size more carefully before I bought them.
