## Description

Review: Real Honey, Real Deal - I got the 5 lb jar of TJO Bees Raw and Unfiltered Honey and it’s been perfect for everything. Tea, toast, baking, or just a spoonful when I need a little boost. The flavor is rich, smooth, and not overly sweet. This is nothing like the overprocessed stuff from big-name brands. The first time I bought it, the honey crystallized and I thought it had gone bad. I ended up throwing it away. Later, I did some research and found out that crystallization is actually a sign of real, raw honey. It happens when the natural sugars start to solidify over time. That means the honey hasn’t been overly processed or diluted. You can just warm it up gently and it goes right back to liquid. It’s so good I ended up turning on Subscribe and Save so I never run out again. Pro: Raw and unfiltered. The real stuff. Smooth texture and deep, clean flavor. 5 pound jar lasts a long time and saves money. Works in everything from tea to cooking to skincare. Con: ????? Final Thoughts: If you want honey that’s natural, unprocessed, and actually good for you, this is it. Crystallization just proves it’s the real deal. I’ve got it on auto-delivery now and won’t go back to the fake stuff.
Review: This is great, raw honey. Excellent, hard-to-beat price. - Unprocessed, thick, golden yellow, consistent month-to-month (I've bought one every four to six weeks; over the last two years), delicious tasting honey. Its never arrived crystalized, but is thick enough that I think if you sat a jar on the shelf too long (6/8 months?), it might. I sometimes get a jar or two ahead of my rate of consumption; so, I've had jars sit on the shelf for a month or two, occasionally. Never a change in consistency, though. I always use it all up looooong before it would have a chance to crystalize. I put a couple of large globs of it in my coffee each morning. Have to scoop it out with a spoon - too thick to easily pour, or use a honey wand with. Highly recommended; no caveats - other than desertcart's consistently miserably inadequate packaging. Inevitably, the box arrives beat all-to-H***, severely damaged (often re-taped together by the shipper, in-route). Every time - w/o exception, for years - the desertcart employee packaging the honey fails to take the dense, 5 lb. nature of the jar into account. This last time, they simply put the jar into a loose-fitting, over-sized, thin, bubble-wrap 'envelope'. As always, the jar bounced around the too-loosely packed box, damaging the box so much that the product was falling out, and the box had to be heavily re-taped closed by UPS. In the past, I've had the honey pkg'd with other items, that were then damaged by the inadequately cushioned jar smashing about within the box. Almost invariably, the pkg has maybe one single large bubble-pack thrown in. Usually, it arrives popped & flat as a pancake (flatter, actually). They do take the time to wrap a doubled-over strip of thin bubble-wrap around the rim of the jar. This helps - somewhat, most of the time. Nonetheless, I've had the thus-wrapped lid arrive severely broken; and, more than once, with honey leaking out. The problem is so consistent that I've decided to include these facts in every single review I do of this honey; which I have set as a recurring purchase every 8 weeks. Hopefully... MAYBE... someone will take notice, pass it up the line, and - MAYBE - someone will actually get the message to the packing department(s), and get the employee(s) to package the honey jars adequately. Or... if that's the problem - get policy changed; if the packaging employees are simply following protocols dictated by Management.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: is honey tested for pesticides? Thanks**
A: Yes. In addition to honey that we retail on Amazon, we also sell honey to a large honey packer based in the United States. This particular company tests for both purity and contaminants, such as pesticides. Every year our honey passes these tests. For the 2020 harvest we plan to begin testing our honey directly with the National Science Lab in Gastonia, NC. Thanks for your question and if you have any further questions, please feel free to reach out to us.

**Q: Are the bees at any point exposed to hfcs/white table sugar, or syrup made of white sugar? under analysis will your honey reveal even trace amounts?**
A: Thanks for your inquiry. As beekeepers for a living, our main priorities are healthy bees and proper animal husbandry. In our experience bees are healthier when their diet consists of pure honey and natural pollen. Nectar starts to trickle in here in North Dakota around late May, with the main honey flow starting in mid June and lasting until early to mid September. We harvest our honey in mid August to give the bees ample time to fill their honey reserves for the winter during the last weeks of the honey flow. The reality of Mother Nature doesn't always jive with what's best for the bees and there are times when bees have to be fed artificial supplements to prevent death from starvation. However, if a supplemental feeding is required, it is never fed to bees less than 2 weeks prior to the main honey flow or during the honey flow as we don't care to eat this either. On top of that, our honey is harvested from boxes that are exclusively used for the honey harvest. These boxes are placed on top of the hive bodies when the honey flow starts and removed in early August so they are never exposed to any supplemental feeding. After extraction these boxes spend the remaining 9-10 months stacked up inside for the next year. We do everything in our power to produce a pure and excellent tasting honey and it's successfully been tested by US honey packers. As for trace amounts, we won't make that guarantee due to environmental things out of our control (neighbor beekeepers or google "blue honey france") and the remote possibility that bees could transfer something from the hive bodies to the boxes used exclusively for honey.

Thanks again for your question. If you have any further questions, please reach out to us via email, telephone or our website.

**Q: Is it glass jar**
A: We now offer a 2.75 lb glass jar with metal lid. The jar is packaged in a box with earth-friendly and compostable mycelium (mushroom) end caps to protect it during shipment.

**Q: is honey tested for pesticides? Thanks**
A: It’s raw honey and I don’t know if it’s been tested. I don’t see how a pesticide could survive in honey as it chemicals property’s kill I think everything like viruses/bacteria extra. I would ask the sell to make sure.
