I use hoop nets for crabbing and used to make my own out of 1/2 x 1/2 mesh hardware cloth, The worked but the crabs regularily crushed the boxes. I hoped these were sturdier and I'm not disappointed. The ones I received were made of 1/2 x 1" mesh welded wire (16 ga I believe). I ordered the small but its still bigger then I like to use in the hoop nets so I modified them to be 5 x 3x 2 instead of 5x5x2.
