I don't know if all units have that problem, but this one does. I just put up a sign that says to be sure the door is closed and no problems since. It has been installed for a year and still looks like new. Very sturdy and no rust.

I built it into a 3 foot square 6 foot high clinker brick column curbside at my residence. The column I built represents a bit of work to say the least so I wanted something durable that would be long lasting. This is it. I simply left a recess in the rear of the column to access the swinging door with a half inch protrusion above the opening to act as a drip screed. The mailbox is well built and I know it will last for decades, so I am pleased. The key system to open the doors is more like a bike lock, and I know of no way to have it reproduced. They send 2 keys, so I for one will keep track of them. If I loose one, I will then change out the lock while I still have a key to open it. That mistake would be on me, not the mailbox. This lock would not be fun to drill out, which I also like about it. I give it a 10 out of 10 as the mail shaft really is adjustable and the powder coating on mine is top notch.
