Since the whole reason I purchased it was because it claimed to have this feature, I'd have to say that this is false advertising. Keep looking if you want a player that actually does what it claims.Update: After the reply from Claybox, I tried their undocumented procedure, hold Play for 3 secs and then a menu is presented. When I do this, after pressing Play for 3 secs it displays "ALL" but there is still no actual menu presented because the ALL doesn't change to anything else, aside from returning to displaying the chosen channel frequency. Perhaps they are using the term Shuffle in the noun form instead of the verb form of the word because it still does not shuffle tracks on the USB memory device. I have not tried an SD device yet but I have no reason to believe their claims of shuffling capability so my critique stands.Update 2: After the near worthless second response by avantek I did more experimentation and discovered how to get the device into Shuffle mode. Avantek did on their first reply tell me how to get into the Play Menu wherein the shuffle mode is available. However, they did not indicate how to manipulate said Play Menu, so while I could get the player to display the menu, I could not figure out how to change the settings. After much more trial and error I discovered how to do this so here is an addendum for you folks who buy one and what it to shuffle. To enter the Play Menu press and hold the play button for 3 seconds, the display will change with the word ALL displayed once you have entered the menu. Now the trick: once in the play menu, again press the play button and then select the next track (right pointing arrow button on the far right) and the display will then change to one of the other settings available, release both and again press and hold play while pressing the right arrow to get the unit to select the next setting in the menu. The settings displayed are as follows: ALL = play all in order, FOL = folder mode (don't know what it is, you try it...), ONE = play one track until you wear your ears out, RDM = shuffle/random mode (the one I wanted) Bear in mind the display cannot actually do an R, but instead will display a capital A, so it will show ADM when it means RDM (ya gotta love 1970's 7 segment technology...) So good luck. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ VERY SIMPLE INSTALL AND IT WORKED PERFECTLY *by D***K on Reviewed in the United States on September 19, 2015* Just received the FM Transmitter today. It took me all of 5 minutes to set-up (most of that time was taking it out of the box). Just used the buttons to set the frequency to 87.5 FM, then set the radio to 87.5 FM, plugged the audio cable from the IPOD to the audio in of the unit and voila ... worked great. No noticeable static or noise. (We did replace an existing unit, so all the cables, etc were already in place). When powered down, the Transmitter retains the frequency selected. The old unit still worked, but the display panel was tiny and on the side and impossible to read the display. I will update when I try the USB flash drive function with the Remote.UPDATE: 09/24/15 Received Kingston 16GB USB 2.0 Micro flash drive, copied all of our MP3's onto it and plugged it into this FM transmitter. It played songs without any problem and the remote worked just fine. VERY HAPPY WITH THIS UNIT.UPDATE: 11/11/15 We used the FM transmitter on a road trip (12hrs going and 12 hrs returning). It worked perfectly, including the use of the remote and the manual buttons on the unit. Absolutely no problems.UPDATE: 07/17/16 We stopped using this unit - NOTHING WRONG WITH IT - It has worked flawlessly for the last nine months. It is just that the configuration made it difficult to use one of the cup holders on the console between the front seats. It is the car configuration that made this a problem, not the unit itself. We purchased a different unit with a small "gooseneck" so the body of the unit could be located away from the cup holder. That has worked out much better for us. this is still a great little reliable unit. ### ⭐ Nice until it breaks *by P***V on Reviewed in the United States on January 2, 2017* It worked for a while and was decent. It performed the functions that it said it would and I had no problem. After a couple months of using it the up/down swivel gave out and the main part of it just faced downward. That really didn't bother me though. At some point within about 10 months of use it completely stopped working. I changed the fuse in it and double checked that my cigarette lighter was still working (it was). This thing just broke and I cannot give an explanation as to why. It's a cheap piece of garbage now sitting in a landfill or blocking up some seagull's throat. None of these FM radio adapters seem to be that well made. I would happily pay for a quality piece of electronics, but there just don't seem to be any out there for this purpose.
