I put it on about a 1/3 inch of regrowth with less than 40% gray. I left it on about thirty minutes and rinsed it with lukewarm water. It rinsed out easy and when it dried, it was exactly my color. I only did the crown of my head and my hairline and doing that, I think I could get 2-3 applications out of the tube. I would recommend a glove to let you distribute the dye with your fingers instead of the brush because using the brush alone, you're going to use much more product than you need to. I applied it to clean damp hair, not soaking wet. the formula is thick but easily spreadable. It comes out the tube easily so watch how hard you squeeze. It doesn't drip and washes off skin easily (though it may stain your nails so wear gloves). No need to apply heat or wrap your hair in a cap. Also, there's no hair dye smell. I applied the gel per box instructions; specifically I shampooed my hair, towel dried and even blow dried it slightly to achieve damp hair instead of sopping wet hair. I saturated my grey roots along my middle part as well as my face framing grey hairs with the gel. The instruction recommends letting the product sit for 20 minutes for stubborn greys, which I did. I then washed it out and applied conditioner, per instruction. Sadly, it did not work and my grey roots remained the same. Not only did I waste time, I also applied a chemical on my hair that did nothing, probably slightly damaging my hair. I have black hair so it’s possible that this product does not work well on dark hair. But, the color I purchased was black, so I’m not entirely sure what went wrong.
