A: No, this is a point to point device (with a single ethernet cable between them), it does not transmit over TCP/IP and thus cannot be used through switches.

Works well for my setup. Used to connect Sonos Port in basement server to upstairs stereo. The transmitter runs cool, and receiver is plug/play with no additional electrical plug in. I took advantage of the duel plug running audio from Toshlink output to Schiit Modi DAC on main stereo and digital coaxial to another system via in wall coaxial connection. Allows me to have Sonos in multiple rooms with one Port. My Cat6 run is probably about 50 feet, and audio sounds great to my ear.
