Thought I'd give grow bags a try. I bought the 7 gallon figuring it'll be a little larger than a 5 gallon bucket so should be a good size for growing tomatoes. Wrong. I don't think I could put enough dirt in this thing to support/balance the weight of a full grown tomato plant. Go larger (10 or 20 gallon) if you want to try these bags for tomatoes. I'm using them for pepper plants instead. I'm also trying one for a zucchini plant. Since they don't get very tall, it may work out ok.As for durability, they're plastic bags so I don't expect them to last a decade. I'm thinking if I take them indoors during winter, I can get a few years out of them. I may overwinter some pepper plants indoors using the bags, but I'll need something to put them in since they have drain holes on the bottom.Value for the money: I got 25 bags for $24.99. Not feeling like it's a great value, but I didn't find anything cheaper elsewhere so I went for these. I didn't want to commit to heavier duty fabric grow bags since it's my first time trying this concept. These are certainly good enough for a test season.Recommendation to the manufacturer/whoever wrote the product listing: Use photos with plants in them so the buyer can tell what size is suitable for tomatoes vs peppers, etc. Alternately, indicate which size is suitable for different vegetables in the product description.
