It is nice and thick and I can barely tell the difference. It totally protects my breakfast table when I'm making crafts. It mostly cleans up very easily, but it does have a couple stains I can't get out from paint markers. This 1.5 mil is the same durability as the 2 mil. I don't cut on it, but it does scratch easily. There's a wear mark under where my craft mats sit, and it has not been there all that long. I would choose this over the 2 mil thickness next time. It does need to lay out flat for several days to flatten out, specially if you need to cut it to fit. Rolling it backwards helps. I was able to cut it to fit my oval table, but it took a pair of heavy duty scissors. I've used a straight edge and utility knife to easily cut the 2 mil. I will order this 1.5 mil next time.
