On first set up and join WiFi. Do this in a socket in same room as your router. Makes WiFi set up and discovery much easier. Then you can unplug it and plug it into whatever room you want to use it. It will remember and work as you set it up. You can set times on off schedules on the app wherever they are plugged in. Even after you have moved them to place you will be using them. If, like me, you have more than one, I recommend writing the name with permanent pen on smart Plug, that correspondes with the name you give each plug in app!
