It goes through age stages and helps parents to understand what your child is thinking and feeling. It gives real life examples and throughout the chapters references other books and even movies that you might be able to read and watch to understand their concepts better. It is well written and very easy to understand. I have purchased this book for friends who have boys and highly recommend it to anyone. My boys are only 3y and 1y, but I plan on re-reading it at every stage of their lives (each chapter is a years range of growing up). It is one of those books that as you read it you will think and feel "oh that makes sense, I love this book!"
