It's like you are at a therapy session, it's very informative and insightful. It has helped me through the emotions and pitfalls that many of fall into over and over. It takes you step by step on how to understand your feeling and deal with them rather than pushing them aside and bottling them inside.Many of the feeling that I experienced are addressed directly in the book, so you don't feel like your going crazy and losing your mind. When at times you can feel that way. It has truly helped me get stronger and stronger every day. I have been going to a therapist for the last year before reading this book, but this book helps build off everything that I've been learning about myself and my relationship. It really recaps and encompasses the whole relationship in a nutshell. I also felt isolated, and reviews of this book continually said how it seemed to know exactly what they were feeling and going thru. And I have to say -- that is probably the best part of the book. At times I felt that he was speaking directly to me. He ever so gently helps you to really look at yourself and the relationship for what it really is/was and then guides you thru the process of rebuilding your confidence, esteem, power and joy, all at your own pace. The book is probably most helpful to the "dumpee" -- although he does address what's going on with the "dumper" too. For me, having more insight into what was going on with my partner helped me see things a little better from the other side, understand what was happening to me, and bring confusion and anger closer to understanding and compassion. Divorce is one of the toughest things I've ever experienced so it is really nice to find guidance and to know that many of the things and thoughts that cross through your mind are not that crazy after all!!! This book has even prepared me to know what to expect during this process. Sometimes I even had to laugh when I was not yet starting a certain chapter but already going through that phase, let's say the anger phase and then I would see exactly that chapter to follow in my book so it is like a relief to know that it is not you are really getting crazy but just walking through the mud and hopefully finding the shore soon.Im still not done with my divorce but definitely this is book has help me so much to give me that extra strength (together with therapy) and not only to go through the s***ty part of divorce but prepare me as well to think about what went wrong, what can you do to improve yourself, move on, evolve and learn from the mistake.
