It takes a big push to get it to expand (I push from the inside rather than pull so I don't damage the handle), but that's good because I wouldn't want it to be too loose anyway. I haven't had an issue yet where the handle has broken (which some people have complained of on here). But it seems pretty sturdy to me. I like the three locking clips, too. A couple of tips: first, the cake would definitely slide around (as would any in any transporter). I put a square of black meshy stuff (like you line your cabinets with) on the bottom and no problem at all--everything stays where it should! The cupcake holders stay in place when the lid is on because they're designed to fit the size of the carrier, so I haven't worried about them at all. I love this product and would definitely buy it again. It is easily expandable and collapsible. Fully expanded, it holds 24 cupcakes or a 2 layer round cake. Collapsed; it can hold a dozen cupcakes, a single layer cake, or a pie. When fully expanded, I still managed to fit it in my small refrigerator. Definitely a bonus! The two cupcake trays are easy to attach to each other. The handle makes it easy to carry and transport.
