Not an imitation. With Martin Retro strings, you get one tough set that offers true, consistent tone and sounds like nothing else on the market. Martin's solid Nickel/copper alloy blend provides a reduced pick attack that allows the guitar's tonewoods to be heard, not overshadowed. Martin's proprietary Monel wrap wire is naturally corrosion resistant, so you can play them for a long time with nothing to get in the way of your music. Discover your guitar's true voice. Retro strings offer enhanced longevity with warm natural tone, and they sound great plugged in. Review: Better than Silk and Steel for Laminate tops - I usually put Martin Silk and Steel 11s on cheap laminate top guitars to take the cheap sound out, however with constant playing the wear out and go dead fast as well as kill volume completely. These maintain the same volume as 80/20s and sound very similar while cutting the nasty high end out of the laminate top I put them on and they still feel 8/10 as easy to fret as the silk and steel having stayed with 11s. I don't know what these would do for or to a solid top quality guitar but on my girlfriend's 3/4 scale Fender Fa15 they made it sound really good and definitely not muddy like the silk and steel and has its volume back. Highly recommend to make a cheap guitar not sound cheap! Review: My favorite country-blues strings - My go-to strings for finger style blues. These are simple strings with a classic sound, heavy on the fundamental and light on overtones. If you play on a small-body guitar, or play a style like ragtime or blues that really emphasizes punch/clarity over sustain, these are a must. String noise is low, packaging is simple (each string in its own labeled envelope, I can’t stand the 2-per envelope thing sone companies do). The strings are a dull silver and will eventually show some corrosion, but they sound better than coated ones imho and they last quite a while. Price is good, tone is great! I think they really shine on a mahogany or cedar topped guitar. ## Features - PROFESSIONAL GUITAR STRINGS: Made from monel, a nickel-copper alloy, our Retro acoustic strings provide a reduced pick attack that allows the guitar’s tonewoods to be heard—not overshadowed. These solid guitar strings are the real deal, offering a true, consistent tone. - LONG-LASTING DESIGN: Discover your guitar’s true voice. These strings are designed with Martin’s naturally corrosion-resistant materials to protect the core and wrap wire and extend string life while ensuring a quality feel in every note. They’re available in extra-light, custom light, light, medium-light (“Laurence Juber’s Choice”), and medium gauges as well as in the bluegrass-inspired “Tony Rice’s Choice” string gauge. - PERFORMANCE READY: Best for rigorous practice and performance, our Retro Acoustic Guitar Strings offer enhanced longevity with a warm natural tone, and they sound great plugged in. If you have finger fatigue after playing or wish bending notes was easier, try a lighter string gauge. - VERSATILE STRINGS: String gauge is an important part of getting the best sound out of your guitar. We recommend using only our extra-light through medium-gauge strings on our guitars. Medium-gauge strings deliver more volume and are perfect for larger-bodied guitars. - THE TONE YOU DESERVE: For every handmade element we craft, we never forget why we do it: To help you set your creativity free. You’ll find a wide range of Martin strings that fit your instrument and playing style. Enjoy incredible tone, no matter what you play. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B07SH38NM5 | | Best Sellers Rank | #4,387 in Musical Instruments ( See Top 100 in Musical Instruments ) #52 in Acoustic Guitar Strings | | Body Material Type | Monel | | Brand | MARTIN | | Brand Name | MARTIN | | Color | Custom Light | | Customer Reviews | 4.6 out of 5 stars 1,569 Reviews | | Finish Type | Copper | | Global Trade Identification Number | 00729789552929 | | Included Components | 6 individual strings | | Instrument | Acoustic Guitar | | Item Type Name | Acoustic Guitar Strings | | Item Weight | 20 g | | Manufacturer | C. These strings are a softer more muted sound compared to brass wound. I love them for blues swing and gypsy ## Frequently Bought Together - Martin Retro Acoustic Guitar Strings - .011-.052 Custom Light (MM11) - Martin Authentic Acoustic Guitar Strings - Marquis Silked - Martin Authentic Acoustic Guitar Strings, Flexible-Core MA130FX 92/8 Phosphor Bronze, (Packaging May Vary) --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.com.ar/products/153812325-martin-retro-acoustic-guitar-strings-011-052-custom-light-mm11](https://www.desertcart.com.ar/products/153812325-martin-retro-acoustic-guitar-strings-011-052-custom-light-mm11) --- *Product available on Desertcart Argentina* *Store origin: AR* *Last updated: 2026-10-13*
