The LAMY 2000 blackwood is a new version of that old, classic, the LAMY 2000. The LAMY 2000 blackwood is a ballpoint pen made of exquisite grenadilla, or African blackwood. Solid, spring operated stainless steel clip. All fittings in high grade Palladium finish.

Review: Beautiful Pen. - The pen is an upgraded version of the Makrolon Lamy 2000. The weight is well distributed and substantial; compared to the original 2000. I understand this pen design was discontinued, it is a shame; especially, considering the quality, the design (natural vs. synthetic materials) and the beautiful texture of the blackwood. It is, absolutely worth the price. In doubt, I suggest to buy it.

I really enjoy using the Lamy 2000 multicolor pen for note taking, however, it’s a complicated design with flaws and I had to think hard about buying it for a fourth time. Because I have the entire Lamy 2000 line, I wanted to have the click pen in the collection, therefore, I’m giving the Lamy 2000 Ballpoint Pen Blackwood a shot and so far I will say that I’m impressed with the quality and workmanship of this pen. Though I lack the versatility of a multicolor pen, I cannot continue to invest on another Lamy 2000 multicolor pen due to its weak points, mainly the screw sections with the threads breaking easily and the piston locking up all the time.

The pen is an upgraded version of the Makrolon Lamy 2000. The weight is well distributed and substantial; compared to the original 2000. LAMY Blackwood has been my favorite pen for over 10 years. Each pen has its own character and the wood will actually change a little over time. I have carried a blackwood daily. I like the pen so much that I purchased one for my son when he got a promotion at work. Very durable wood pen. I have had some trouble with the pocket clip on one of my pens, but they have repaired it for free both times that I returned it to them. And to keep that comment in perspective, that is two times in over ten years.
