The software is great, responsive and plays everything you throw at it, without skipping, crashing or any other problems. I've used the kdlinks A250 and the HD720 over the last few years. The zidoo z9s feels like a luxury automobile in comparison to the klunky nature of the kdlinks line. However, 2 big disappointments: the z9s does not remember your file view/sorting setting when powering off. The name of this setting is on the right panel called Viewport. The most important buttons on the remote (play, pause, stop, subtitle and audio track) are among the smallest. The largest buttons (the 1-10 number pad) are the least used, so that's unfortunate. The remote performs well, has good signal penetration, with a formidable feel with reassuring button travel. I connect the Z9S to my network via Ethernet and it's unfortunate the Wi-Fi antennas are not removable. It allows you to save folders on your local network as Favorites, so you can quickly access commonly used SMB shares. This is one of the most important features so my wife can easily navigate to our preferred folders. I love that it has optical audio out and have had no problems with 5.1, DTS and Dolby Digital audio. You do have to turn it on in the audio settings in 2 locations to get 5.1 instead of the default 2 channel PCM audio. When you set the playback mode to Repeat All, you can get the Z9S to automatically play the next file in the sequence, which is great for playing movie trailers or music videos, Etc. The Repeat All feature stays enabled after a power off, which is great. The machined metal finish feels very nice and looks incredibly attractive in any setup. It boots up and under a minute. ### ⭐ Good concept and nice if worked *by H***S on Reviewed in the United States on October 11, 2019* I do like the design of this box. Very polished and good looking. I purchased this to use in training classes that I record and playback in. It worked fine for a few hours, then got hung up on start up loop. Seemingly not uncommon for this device if you google it. Beautiful picture output on many different formats. I really wish it had worked. Remote is cool.Anyway after the first box hung up in a start up loop. I sent it back. New one came in, and after 1 night of use, The same thing occurred. I say no dice. I sent the second one back for a refund. So onward we go with a different brand. Sad, it would have been perfect for what I needed, but not if it doesn't start ### ⭐ Do not buy, buy a skystream *by D***Z on Reviewed in the United States on March 11, 2020* This is extremely dated. Powered up once and then never did again.
