I added one of these foot switches inline with the existing power cord and it works fine. Others have noted that the leads from the wire are just inserted into the switch unit, which is true. My lamp cord is stranded wire instead of solid wire, so I just twirled the strands with my fingers until they were stiff enough to be inserted into the switch. If that hadn't worked I would have just added a dab of solder to them. Once assembled the cord is not going to come out of the housing because there is pressure from internal parts of the housing that prevents the cord from moving. (ie, how far from either the plug end or the tail end)** A: the switch is located in the middle, arrand 0.75meter far from tail end **Q: will rotary dimmer switch work on Turkish lamp ?** A: It should work on a lamp with a standard light bulb, and I don't believe the bulb has to be of the dimmable type.
