The elastic on the back of the hat tightens it so that it does not fall off. The visor is big enough to block a lot of sun. I love that the hat also shades his neck and ears. This hat reduces the amount of necessary sunscreen. It dries quickly and is durable. We have used it on the beach, in the pool, and running around outside. I have not found any downfalls to this hat.
